Up here the neighbors have feathers and fur: birds at the feeder, foxes crossing at dusk, bears and mountain lions keeping their own counsel in the trees.
In her own words
Written by Robbin for this page.
I was born in Washington, DC, and until I moved to Colorado, I was never far from the ocean or the Chesapeake. I grew up along the East Coast and down through the South, with childhood days spent around sailboats and summers in Annapolis. Over the years home has been Hilton Head, Ponte Vedra Beach, Charleston, North Carolina, Sarasota, and a stretch close to New Orleans. I've been making things since I was a tiny child, and by seventh grade I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer. I studied in New York City and Los Angeles, graduated from Parsons, and started Robbin Rawlings Designs right out of school. For the past 28 years I've traded the tides for the Rocky Mountains above Boulder, Colorado, at 7,500 feet.

It started with crayons. When I was two, I covered a page with a big, multicolored scribble, and when my mother asked what it was, I told her, completely seriously, that it was snakes fighting. She kept me busy with crafts and projects all through my childhood, and she's a huge part of why I became an artist. These days my inspiration comes from out my own back door. Up here the neighbors have feathers and fur: birds at the feeder, foxes crossing at dusk, bears and mountain lions keeping their own counsel in the trees. They wander through my days, and sooner or later they wander onto my paper.
Playful and alive, with a loose, hand-drawn line and color turned up bold. I work in watercolor, acrylic, and graphite, and I like a picture to look as if it were caught in the middle of moving.
I have been with It Takes Two since 2021.
The designs closest to my heart are the ones I've made for veterinarians and pet lovers, work meant to comfort and to celebrate the animals people love. I'm grateful that It Takes Two chooses so many of my designs, and I think their cards are lovely.
I'm a coastal kid who ended up in the Rocky Mountains, and I think the water and the wilderness both show up in everything I make.
