Katie began watercolor painting in 2002 as a means to satisfy the need to respond to the beauty of nature that surrounded her as a farm girl in Southern Minnesota.  She now continues painting in her retirement on a lake in Northwestern Wisconsin.

Annis Nin once said, "We do art to taste life twice.  "My art does just that," says Katie. "It allows me to go deeper, to tell others what i see, to experience the joy of beauty another time."

In addition to painting, she also does woodcarving and is currently carving whimsical houses and wood spirits out of cottonwood bark.  Katie and her husband, Steve, have five children and seven grandchildren.

Georgia discovered Katie's wonderful creativitiy and her delightful, welcoming personality when the two artists met at a Summer Art Festival in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
